Our Story
Beautifully Cultivated Desserts™
Founded in 1998 by Owner and Executive pastry chef Lesia Kohut, Toronto-based LPK’s Culinary Groove began as a home-based business, focusing on custom-made wedding, birthday, anniversary and other special occasion cakes, as well as hand-made truffles for private clients. As LPK’s reputation and presence grew, Lesia also began making desserts for some of Toronto’s high end, high profile catering companies including Daniel et Daniel, Presidential Gourmet, Yorkshire Pudding, 10tation Event Catering, and Rose Reisman Catering (formerly Catering by Davids').
Because of Lesia’s background in food, flavour has always been, and still remains the highest priority at LPK’s, with esthetics playing a very close second. Over the years, Lesia also realized that in order to provide the very best tasting and most beautiful looking desserts, it was necessary for LPK’s to make the switch to certified organic and fair trade ingredients as well.
In its tenth year of operation, Lesia, with the help of friends, family and the support of her private and corporate clients, realized her dream by opening LPK’s first retail shop at Queen and Broadview, in the heart of Toronto’s Riverside District.
Today, LPK’s continues to create custom-made wedding and special occasion cakes, and now also offers an ever expanding signature line of cakes, pastries and chocolates (with organic and fair trade ingredients wherever possible), and a large selection of vegan, gluten-free and kosher-style desserts fresh from the pastry case every day.
In addition, LPK’s green focus has reached beyond only using certified organic and fair trade ingredients, to making more eco-friendly and responsible choices in the daily operations of LPK’s new organic pastry and chocolate boutique. Dessert is an indulgence, and Lesia and the LPK’s team believe in order to create desserts that are as delicious as they are beautiful, livelihoods of people in other parts of the world can not be compromised in the process, nor can the health and well-being of the planet.
As such, LPK’s is committed to reducing its carbon footprint in several ways. Choosing more eco-friendly materials and equipment in the renovation of the new store, using cleaner energy through Bullfrog Power, incorporating more environmentally responsible packaging, along with having an eco-friendly sanitation plan are some of the ways LPK’s is continually striving to reduce its environmental impact.
